PictureStill one of the best photos ever. Stevie Lyn "running" by Chris Vaughan during IM Maryland.
How did you first get interested in multisport?

-I first got started in multisport through long distance running. After my short collegiate lacrosse career I decided to start running to get back into shape. I was unable to even run a half a mile without walking when I started in 2008, in 2009 I did my first road race, a full marathon. After training for my second and getting injured, I decided to buy a bike and teach myself how to swim. In 2011 I started racing triathlons with my second tri ever being a half ironman. After finishing, I declared that I would race Ironman Lake Placid the next year. The guy I was dating at the time doubted me and the rest is history :)

Which sport do you enjoy the most?

- I enjoy running the most. I don't feel as if I am super strong in any of the events individually, I just consider myself 'pretty okay' at all three. Running is just where I find myself the happiest and is the most social of the three sports for me. Even on  a bad run I am happy to be out there doing it. Some teammates see me swimming all the time but they know it's definitely not my favorite.

Any embarrassing stories you'd like to share?

- I'm sure I embarrass myself a lot so I can't tell the difference anymore.

What is your most triumphant moment during a multisport event?

-My 5th IM finish at Ironman Muskoka in 2015. The course was the hardest IM I've ever raced (yes, harder than Placid and Tremblant) and during a pretty difficult time in my personal life where my world got turned upside down. I remember my last long ride was the day after I had to move to a new apartment and I rode my trainer with no TV or movies for 6 hours surrounded by boxes to just get it done. So when I crushed those hills and crossed that finish line at 12:09 and a 20 minute PR, I've never felt stronger.

Tell us something that most people don't know about you.

- I prefer a having planner book over using a digital planner any day. Also I live and die by my sticky notes and whiteboard calendar.

Thanks, Stevie and all the other teammates who have submitted their stories over the past few months. If you'd like to contribute your story, drop me a line at communications@districtmultisport.com
